Star RX Gen 3 vs Aerosoft X1

Written by Camstar Sports, makers of the Star RX Gen 3 · Aerosoft facts from retailer listings checked 28 October 2026

Quick Answer

Star RX Gen 3: ₹25,500, fires .177 pellets from 4 × 8-shot rotary magazines, 400 fps, under 5 J, 12-month warranty, two CO₂ cylinders and a hard case in the box. Aerosoft X1: ₹36,000–39,499 at Indian retailers, a Beretta 84FS-style semi-automatic with a smooth-bore barrel sold as a CO₂ BB pistol. Both are made in India and need no licence at .177 under 20 J. Pick the X1 for the Beretta look; pick the RX Gen 3 for price, pellets and a published warranty.

Disclosure: we make the Star RX Gen 3, so this is not a neutral review. Aerosoft does not appear to run a product website, so every X1 fact below comes from Indian retailers' published listings (National Gun House, Jalandhar, and invincibleone.in), checked on 28 October 2026. Where a spec is not published, the table says so rather than guessing.

The Real Difference: Pellets vs BBs

This matters more than the price. A BB pistol like the X1 fires round steel balls through a smooth barrel. BBs are cheap and feed reliably, which suits plinking at cans and replica handling — but they bounce off hard surfaces, so you need a proper BB trap and eye protection every time.

A pellet pistol like the RX Gen 3 fires soft lead diabolo pellets, which flatten on the target instead of ricocheting and group more tightly on paper. If your goal is target practice at 5–10 metres and you care where the shots land, pellets are the better tool. If you want the feel of a famous replica and mostly shoot cans, BBs are fine. Our BB gun guide covers the safety side.

Price and Value

At ₹25,500 the RX Gen 3 is about ₹10,500–14,000 less than the X1's retailer prices, and the price includes delivery, two CO₂ cylinders, four magazines and a hard case. Both pistols undercut the imported CO₂ replicas (₹45,000–85,000), which is the bigger win for Indian buyers either way: you avoid import duty and you are dealing with a maker in this country.

Running costs are the same for both — 12 g CO₂ cylinders at roughly ₹110 each, 30–60 shots per cylinder. See how long a CO₂ cartridge lasts.

Warranty, Service and Spare Parts

Star RX Gen 3: 12-month manufacturing warranty, registered against your website order and serviced at Camstar's Kanpur facility. Magazines, CO₂ packs and other parts are listed with prices on our spare parts page, so a worn part is a small order, not a dead gun.

Aerosoft X1: the listings we checked do not state a warranty period or service route. That does not mean there is none — ask the seller, in writing, what is covered, for how long and where the gun goes for repair before you pay.

Both are .177 CO₂ pistols, so neither needs an arms licence provided it is under 20 joules — the condition the Ministry of Home Affairs sets for air weapons under the Arms Rules 2016. Either must be sold by a licensed air-weapon dealer against your photo ID and address proof, and both are sporting equipment, not self-defence weapons. Details: is a CO₂ gun legal in India.
