Camstar has built a practice and general-shooting company: one semi-automatic CO₂ pistol and a range of spring pistols at accessible prices. Neither company makes the other's flagship.

CO₂ or PCP — the Real Decision

Forget the brands for a moment; this is a technology choice and it determines everything else.

CO₂ is right if

You want to shoot the day it arrives, with nothing else to buy
You shoot in bursts — practice sessions, plinking, teaching someone
You want semi-automatic fire and a magazine, not a single-shot cycle
Your total budget is under about ₹30,000 including everything

PCP is right if

You are training for formal 10-metre competition under a coach
You need regulated, temperature-independent shot-to-shot consistency
You shoot high volume and want the lowest cost per shot long term
You can budget for a pump, compressor or scuba tank up front

One genuine disadvantage of CO₂ worth stating plainly: gas pressure falls with temperature, so a CO₂ pistol loses velocity on a cold Delhi morning in January and the point of impact shifts. Warranty, Stated Accurately

There is a claim circulating in the Indian air gun market that Camstar is the only brand offering a warranty. It is not true and we are not going to trade on it. Precihole publishes a warranty: 6 months carry-in on break-barrel and PCP rifles and pistols, 3 months on PCP hand pumps, none on accessories, original receipt mandatory, and disassembly outside an authorised service station voids it.

Camstar's is 12 months on pistols and rifles, registered against your website order, claimed directly through the site or the support line, and serviced at the Kanpur factory rather than at a third-party station. Twice the period, and no carry-in requirement. That is the real difference, and it is a smaller one than the marketing version. Our Honest Recommendation

If you are a competitive 10-metre shooter or training towards NRAI events, buy a Precihole match pistol. We do not make a product that competes with the PP55 Match Pro and we would be wasting your money pretending otherwise.

If you want semi-automatic CO₂ shooting — rapid-fire practice, trigger discipline, plinking, a pistol that works the moment it arrives — then the Star RX Gen 3 is the only Indian-made option, and at ₹25,500 it is less than half the price of any imported CO₂ semi-automatic, all of which cost ₹45,000 to ₹75,000 and none of which can be serviced in this country. The genuinely bad option is neither of us: a ₹60,000 imported pistol with no Indian warranty and no spare parts. Whichever Indian manufacturer you choose, you are choosing a gun somebody here can fix.

Does Precihole make a CO₂ air pistol?

No. Precihole's published air pistol range is the PP75 Champion, PP55 Match Pro, PP55 Match Pro Junior, PP100 Chimera B-X3 and PP100 Harpy — all pre-charged pneumatic (PCP) — plus the NP60 Draco (nitro-piston break barrel) and the SP60 Aries (spring break barrel). There is no CO₂ model in the lineup, and no semi-automatic model of any kind. If you want a semi-automatic CO₂ pistol made in India, the Camstar Star RX Gen 3 is currently the only one in volume production. This is not a criticism of Precihole; they have deliberately built a match-shooting range around PCP, which is the right technology for ISSF competition.

Which is better for 10-metre competition shooting?

A PCP match pistol, and it is not close. Precihole's PP55 Match Pro and PP75 Champion are purpose-built ISSF-style single-shot match pistols with adjustable grips and triggers, running on regulated air. That is the correct tool for formal 10-metre air pistol competition, and it is what a shooter training for NRAI events should be using. The Star RX Gen 3 is a semi-automatic CO₂ pistol — rifled, accurate to 2–3 cm at 10 metres, but built for rapid-fire practice, trigger discipline and plinking rather than for a slow-fire match card. Buy a Precihole match pistol if you are shooting competitions; buy an RX Gen 3 if you are practising volume, reaction and follow-up shots.

How do the warranties compare?

Camstar offers 12 months manufacturing warranty on pistols and rifles, claimed directly against your website order and serviced in Kanpur. Precihole publishes 6 months carry-in warranty on its break-barrel and PCP rifles and pistols, 3 months on PCP hand pumps, and no warranty on accessories, with an original sales receipt mandatory and any disassembly outside an authorised service station voiding the cover. So Camstar is double the period and does not require you to carry the unit in to a service station — but Precihole does warrant its products, and any claim that Camstar is the only Indian brand offering a warranty is simply false.

Is a PCP or a CO₂ pistol cheaper to run?

CO₂ is cheaper to start and more expensive per shot; PCP is the reverse. A CO₂ pistol needs no extra equipment — a 12 g cylinder costs about ₹110 and gives 30–60 shots, so heavy use runs roughly ₹13,750 a year at 200 shots a week. A PCP needs a filling solution before you can shoot at all: a hand pump is the cheap route and hard work, a compressor or a scuba tank is several tens of thousands up front, after which the air itself is nearly free. For a shooter putting a few hundred rounds a week through a pistol, CO₂ is the lower total cost for the first two or three years. Past that, and at higher volumes, PCP wins.

Which brand has better spare parts availability?

Both are Indian manufacturers, which already puts them in a completely different category from imported brands that have no Indian parts supply at all. Camstar lists 25 spare parts for direct public purchase on this website with published prices, from ₹79 muzzles to a ₹6,499 CO₂ magazine assembly, orderable like any other product. Precihole routes parts through its authorised service network rather than listing them for open sale. Both approaches work; the difference is whether you can fix a ₹99 problem yourself on a Sunday or need to reach a service station first.

Precihole or Camstar for a first air gun?

It depends entirely on what you want to do with it. For formal 10-metre match training under a coach, start with a Precihole PCP match pistol and budget for the filling equipment. For general shooting — home practice, plinking, rapid-fire drills, teaching someone to shoot safely — a CO₂ or spring pistol is simpler, cheaper to get running and more forgiving, and the Camstar Star Leo at ₹8,400 or the Star RX Gen 3 at ₹25,500 covers the range.
