Which air gun brands actually offer a warranty in India?

Two manufacturers offer a warranty you can claim inside India. Camstar Sports gives 12 months manufacturing warranty on air pistols and rifles, registered against your website order and serviced in Kanpur. Precihole Sports gives 6 months carry-in warranty on its break-barrel and PCP rifles and pistols, and 3 months on PCP hand pumps, with no warranty on accessories. Imported brands — Umarex, Crosman, SIG Sauer, Gamo, Walther, Beretta — publish warranties but administer them only in Germany or the United States, with no authorised service station in India. Unbranded marketplace air pistols in the ₹1,500–₹2,500 range typically carry no warranty at all.

Is Camstar the only Indian air gun brand with a warranty?

No, and we would rather say so plainly than claim otherwise. Precihole Sports also warrants its products. The differences that matter are length and mechanism: Camstar covers 12 months against Precihole's 6 months on pistols and rifles, and Camstar handles claims directly through the website and support line rather than requiring you to carry the product in to an authorised service station. On CO₂ pistols specifically the comparison does not arise, because Precihole does not manufacture one — its pistol range is entirely PCP and spring or nitro-piston break barrel.

What does the Camstar 12-month warranty actually cover?

Manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship: valve and seal failure that is not caused by misuse, trigger and sear mechanism faults, barrel and receiver defects, magazine indexing failure, and finish defects present on arrival. It does not cover normal wear, damage from dry-firing a spring pistol, damage from overfilling a PCP beyond rated pressure, damage from using the wrong lubricant or non-standard pellets, corrosion from storage in damp conditions, or any product that has been disassembled or modified outside our service process. Consumables — pellets, CO₂ cylinders, O-rings that have simply aged — are wear items, though we sell every one of them as a spare part.

Do I need to register the product to claim warranty?

Yes. The warranty runs against your order on camstarsports.com, so claims are accepted for products bought through this website with a valid website order number. This is deliberate: it is how we keep grey-market and counterfeit units out of the warranty pool, and it is the reason we can honour claims quickly without arguing about provenance. If you bought through a dealer rather than the website, contact us with the dealer invoice before you need a repair, not after. Keep the warranty card that ships in the hard case.

Why can I not claim an Umarex or Crosman warranty in India?

Because the warranty is administered where the manufacturer has a service station, and neither has one here. Umarex USA directs service enquiries to its Arkansas repair department; Crosman to its New York support line. To claim, the pistol has to physically reach them. Air guns are a restricted item for Indian export and import, so you are shipping a controlled article internationally at your own expense, and Umarex's published terms do not cover return shipping — owners on airgun forums report paying around USD 90 for a single return leg. Then it has to clear Indian customs again on the way back. For a failed seal worth a few hundred rupees, no one does this, which is why an imported air pistol is effectively sold without a warranty in India regardless of what the box says.

What happens if my pistol fails after the 12 months are up?

You buy the part. That is the quieter half of the promise and in the long run it matters more than the warranty period, because most air gun faults are a perished seal, a tired spring or a bent sight rather than a catastrophic failure. We keep 25 spare parts on the site as ordinary purchasable items — O-rings at ₹99, front and rear sights at ₹99 and ₹499, rotary magazine sets at ₹500, springs from ₹160, levers, muzzles, pistons and complete CO₂ magazines. An out-of-warranty Camstar is a repair; an out-of-warranty import is usually a paperweight.
