Indian monsoon delivers 75-95% relative humidity for 3-4 straight months across most of the country — up to 100% along the west coast and north-east. Air holds moisture, moisture reaches exposed steel, and exposed steel oxidises. That's rust. On an airgun, rust doesn't fail loudly — it silently degrades accuracy (barrel surface rust opens up groupings before you can see it) and, if severe, can seize the trigger group or magazine springs.
The good news: sub-20-joule air pistols are simple mechanical devices with limited exposed steel. A basic monsoon routine keeps them perfectly maintained. The bad news: skip the routine for a full monsoon season and you may find spring pistols cocking stiffly, CO₂ magazine seals leaking, or the trigger break gritty when you pick up the pistol in October. All preventable.
Where you keep the pistol matters more than any product you buy. Store it inside the manufacturer-supplied hard case (Camstar ships every airgun with one), with the case latched shut, inside an indoor cupboard or drawer at room temperature. Avoid these:

Do air pistols rust in Indian monsoon humidity?

What silica gel or desiccant should I use for my pistol case?
Any indicating silica gel packets (the ones that change colour from orange to green when saturated) work well — buy them online for ₹100-200 for a pack of 20. Put 2-3 packets in the pistol hard case, one in the pellet tin storage box, and one in the CO₂ cartridge container. Check them every 2-3 weeks; when they turn green or transparent (colour indicator varies by brand), microwave for 3 minutes on medium power to regenerate them, or replace. Rice grains and DIY alternatives work in a pinch but don't hold as much moisture as silica gel — real desiccant is a ₹200 one-time buy that lasts 2-3 seasons.
