Glock Price in India (2026)

What a Glock costs in India, which models a civilian can legally own, why the Glock 17 is off-limits, and the Glock-style pistol you can buy without a licence.

Quick answer

A 9 mm Glock 17 or Glock 19 has no civilian price in India: 9×19 mm is prohibited bore, so no civilian licence can cover it. Glock’s Indian partner lists civilian models in non-prohibited calibres — the G44 (.22) and the G25 and G42 (.380) — which need an Arms Act licence and have no published price yet. Without a licence, the legal option is a .177 Glock-style CO₂ air pistol: the Indian-made Star RX Gen 3 costs ₹25,500.

Every Glock an Indian buyer asks about

Source for the civilian models: Counter Measures Technologies — commercial pistols, which says availability is subject to the Arms Rules and Arms Act and that authorised armouries will be announced. CMT also lists .357 SIG, .40 S&W and .45 Auto models; whether a calibre is prohibited bore is set by the government, so confirm with your licensing authority.

Why you can’t buy a Glock 17 in India

Indian law splits firearm calibres into prohibited bore (for the armed forces and police) and non-prohibited bore (which civilians can be licensed for). Handguns in 9×19 mm Parabellum — the cartridge the Glock 17, 18 and 19 are built for — are prohibited bore. Civilian handgun licences are generally issued for calibres such as .22, .32 and .380.

  • Penalty: acquiring or possessing a prohibited-bore firearm without authority is punishable under Section 25(1A) of the Arms Act 1959 — seven to fourteen years’ imprisonment after the 2019 amendment.
  • Scams: social-media and classified listings offering a “Glock for sale” in India are illegal, and many are frauds that take an advance and vanish.
  • Licence first: even a legal .380 Glock is sold only to a licence holder, by an authorised dealer.

How to get a licensed Glock (.380 or .22)

  1. Apply for a non-prohibited-bore arms licence on the National Database of Arms Licences (NDAL-ALIS) portal, or through your district licensing authority.
  2. Complete police verification, the medical certificate and safe-storage requirements. Approval commonly takes 6–18 months and is not guaranteed.
  3. Once licensed, buy from an authorised dealer; the purchase is endorsed on your licence.

The no-licence Glock-style pistol

A .177 (4.5 mm) air pistol under 20 joules needs no arms licence under the Arms Rules 2016, but must still be sold by a licensed air-weapon dealer who takes your ID and address proof (is a CO₂ gun legal in India). Two Glock-format CO₂ pistols are common in India:

PistolFiresActionApprox. energyPriceLicence
Camstar Star RX Gen 3 (made in India).177 lead pelletsSemi-auto, 4 × 8-shot magazines~4 J₹25,500Not required
Umarex Glock 17 Gen 4 (imported).177 steel BBsSemi-auto, blowback~2 J~₹55,000–85,000Not required

Either is for target shooting and training. It is not a self-defence weapon: at a few joules it will not reliably stop anyone, and because it looks exactly like a real Glock, drawing or carrying it openly can escalate danger and can be an offence under the BNS (ss. 351–352). Keep it unloaded and cased when you travel. Stands and mounts: Glock accessories. More CO₂ options and running costs: CO₂ air pistols in India.

FAQs

What is the Glock price in India in 2026?

There is no civilian price for the Glock 17 or Glock 19 in India, because both fire 9×19 mm, a prohibited bore that no civilian licence can cover. Glock’s Indian partner, Counter Measures Technologies (Coimbatore), lists civilian Glocks in non-prohibited calibres — the G44 (.22) and the G25 and G42 (.380) — subject to the Arms Rules, but has not published a price. A Glock-style CO₂ air pistol needs no licence: the Indian-made Star RX Gen 3 costs ₹25,500.

What is the Glock 17 price in India?

The Glock 17 has no legal civilian price in India. It is chambered in 9×19 mm, which the Arms Rules 2016 treat as prohibited bore, reserved for the armed forces and police. Any seller offering a Glock 17 to a civilian is breaking the Arms Act. The legal look-alike is a .177 CO₂ air pistol: the imported Umarex Glock 17 Gen 4 replica costs about ₹55,000–85,000, and the Indian-made Star RX Gen 3 costs ₹25,500.

Is a Glock legal in India?

A 9 mm Glock (Glock 17, 18 or 19) is not legal for Indian civilians — 9×19 mm is prohibited bore under the Arms Act 1959 and Arms Rules 2016. A Glock in a non-prohibited calibre such as .380 or .22 can be owned only with an Arms Act licence and bought from an authorised dealer. A .177 Glock-style air pistol under 20 joules needs no licence.

Which Glock can a civilian buy in India?

Only models in non-prohibited calibres. Counter Measures Technologies, which makes Glocks in Coimbatore, lists the Glock 44 (.22 LR) and the Glock 25 and Glock 42 (.380 Auto) for civilians, subject to the Arms Rules, and says authorised dealers will be announced. You need a non-prohibited-bore arms licence before you can buy one. Calibre categories are decided by the government, so confirm with your licensing authority.

Can I buy a Glock without a licence in India?

No real Glock can be bought without an arms licence. What you can buy without one is a .177 (4.5 mm) Glock-style CO₂ air pistol under 20 joules, from a licensed air-weapon dealer who takes your ID and address proof. The Camstar Star RX Gen 3 is ₹25,500; imported Umarex Glock 17 replicas cost about ₹55,000–85,000. Because it looks like a real Glock, keep it cased in public.

What is the punishment for owning a Glock 17 illegally in India?

Acquiring or possessing a prohibited-bore firearm such as a 9 mm Glock without authority is punishable under Section 25(1A) of the Arms Act 1959, which after the 2019 amendment carries imprisonment of seven to fourteen years and a fine. Buying from an unlicensed seller also exposes you to fraud, because many “Glock for sale” listings in India are scams.

Is a Glock-style air pistol good for self-defence?

No. A .177 CO₂ air pistol produces about 2–4 joules, against roughly 500 for a 9 mm round, so it will not reliably stop an attacker. Its realistic uses are target practice, training and, at most, a visible deterrent. Drawing a realistic replica can escalate a confrontation and is risky with police around. Pepper spray, awareness and calling 112 come first.
